bone anchored hearingAlthough hearing aids are often the best option for treating hearing loss, this is not always the case.  Bone Anchored Hearing Systems (BAHS) are an option for individuals who cannot wear hearing aids due to issues such as skin allergies or persistent infection.  BAHS are also an option for individuals with a large conductive component in their hearing loss, and for individuals with single-sided profound hearing loss (and normal hearing in the other ear).

BAHAs have two components:

  1. A small surgical implant is placed in the bone behind the ear
  2. A sound processor (worn on the head) that attaches to this implant

If you would like to find out more about candidacy for BAHSs, the first step is to schedule a hearing test.  Contact our clinic at 613-650-1545 to schedule an appointment.

If your hearing loss indicates you are a candidate for a BAHS, our clinic can schedule an in-office demonstration of the device, and if appropriate, a trial with a BAHS before deciding if the device is right for you.

The decision to proceed with a BAHS is a collective one, that involves an audiologist, an otologist, and of course, the client!bone anchored implant
